Community Engagement
Catchment scale issues require community scale solutions.
We focus on enabling communities to develop and implement change that benefits their environment, people and economy.
We are recognised leader of community engagement processes including networking, group facilitation and helping groups resolve issues, find common ground and move forward.
Our approach is to support a community through a facilitated process to identify stakeholders, gather local knowledge, identify shared priorities and points of difference, develop their preferred options, explore the barriers and opportunities, and implement their preferred solution.
The term, “nothing about us without us,” has been around in concept for hundreds of years, starting as the Latin phrase “Nihil de nobis, sine nobis.” It became a motto people who wanted a say in how they were governed. It is a guiding philosophy for our community engagement process.
An example of such a project is Environment Canterbury's Community Organisation Support program run by Alison Bower.
We developed upskilling program for nearly 5,000 aid workers globally to enhance groundwater management skills .
